THE FUTILE SYSTEM - 2025
Though I do not usually work in sequential storytelling, the concept at hand felt like one that required showing the rises and turns in a series. The pieces revolve around the symbols of an eternal flame (the kind you see in monuments, and all of the things fire can mean for us like rage, excitement, and destruction) and bubbles (a symbol used throughout art history to denote the mystical, the ephemeral, both transparent and reflective). They deal with indoctrination, and passed on beliefs that something will provide the more you sacrifice to it. The spreading of those beliefs, the temples built for it and the guards designated to it. And then, something that comes along to be the antithesis, the reminder that nothing is eternal, a reminder of childhood, and it captivates. And it becomes such a multitudinous and large truth that it must be confronted and the old beliefs forgot about.

WATCHING THE WORLD REDISCOVER TOUCH
A series of drawings, conceived in 2019 and executed in March of 2020, that shows figures indulging and exploring their sense of touch, engaging in landscapes they haven't seen. They all started with a landscape or environment, and then the task was to imagine how a body would react and work and play with that place. The images call upon lying odalisques of art history and other figure paintings depicting nudes surrounded by a wealth of plush textures, but here take a more sci-fi, "life outside the pod" twist.
